A ghostly kind of tour

If you are the bold, courageous and fearless type, we are quite sure that a tour to a cemetery is something that you would look forward to. And no, we are not making fun of those who have passed on, but at Bonaventure Cemetery, it is a place where visitors would go sightseeing and enjoy the beauty of the cemetery and its surrounding. Find it difficult to believe? Well, we “dare” you to rent a Georgia bus and get the bus driver to send you and your friends who are just as bold and courageous as you are, to the Bonaventure Cemetery and find out for yourself and see if you would actually encounter a spirit or two while you are there.

The Bonaventure Cemetery is open to the public from 8 o’clock in the morning until 5 o’clock in the evening. As you walk around the cemetery after being dropped off by the Georgia rented bus driver (who will always return at the appointed time to pick you and your friends), perhaps you will realize that it is not such an eerie place after all. Sure, they have statues and monuments at some of the gravesites, but these are quite common sights at any cemetery, so there isn’t anything to be afraid of when you see such statues or monuments at this cemetery.

For the extra adventurous type, you can always rent a Georgia bus to go to the Bonaventure Cemetery for the “After Hours” tours – they have two tours that they have after 5pm. Opened to the public, this tour allows visitors to “hang around” the cemetery for two hours with stories of the history of Bonaventure’s plantation to stories about some of them who are laid to rest there. The second kind of tour that they offer is for private groups where you will have a tour hosted by Shannon Scott at the cemetery followed by dinner at Sister’s of the New South. However, this “Dinner and A Cemetery” tour is only available on weekends from 6pm to 8pm and prior reservations are required.

Whether you choose to go and visit the Bonaventure Cemetery during the day or the night in your Georgia rented bus, you can be sure of one thing – your bus driver will be waiting to pick you and your friends up after you are through with your sightseeing or tour on the cemetery. Don’t forget to check out some of the highlights at the cemetery – little Gracie, Christ at the Portal, the Jewish grave area are some interesting spots to look out for while you are there!
